WINTER COLOUR

The cold weather today, despite the sun shining if you are in Sydney has inspired me to talk about making your home cosy and warmer to get you through the winter blues. I don't hate winter but I don't love it either. I think it can be fun to layer up and wear awesome coats and hats but seriously, I do not know about you, but I MUCH rather be doing this:

Despite turning into an ice cube, the fun part about winter in the home is being able to accessories with great pieces and introduce some great deep colours to make your home feel more warm. My picks for winter colours are deep navy, plums, greys, black mixed and contrasted with lighter tones. Throwing in a bit of gold in there would not hurt either. One of my top tips for keeping your home interesting is changing it up occasionally, just like you would with your fashion or style. If you introduce deep colours through accessories such as candles, blankets, rugs and timber logs ( if you were so lucky to have a fire place ) these warm deep colours and textures would add depth and warm to your environment. Team it up with a hot cup of tea or coco with some baked goods and you are set! 

I am in no way a brand snob and believe you can find great pieces anywhere. Ikea at the moment has a really great concept happening to assist you in un-freezing your home. It is more about helpful hints on entertaining and staying in but Ikea is very useful for those cheap accessories that are cool and cheap. Cool and cheap means you can mix it up as much as you like. You can even introduce texture by buying a couple of contrasting throws, cushion covers, rugs and wicker baskets ( easy way to get a some texture and timber-ish looking piece in your home ) grey or brown.
