I am really happy to announce that I will be back to blogging every week, which is something that has been weighing on me for some time now. It is really difficult to balance all aspects of a business when you are flowing with significantly sized projects, which is something that I aim to learn and get better at as we continue to grow and grow.
Having a business is a serious juggling act and even though I do have to say I am organised and a good at multi tasking, there are major flaws in my organisational skills and getting them sorted is something I want to re focus on now that I am winding down before my big trip.
That's right, have you heard? I am heading overseas for a month to travel and learn about all the new trends in August and I cannot wait. Lots of new and exciting experiences will broaden my mind for what is going to be another huge year for JDZ Designs. We are also in the process of re branding, so yes the website and the blog will change and evolve again. That is taking a lot more time then I had anticipated so it won't be ready for our 1st birthday, which yes is in fact tomorrow.
In the meantime to celebrate the beginning of the blog again, which I aim to have three posts per week going up and more, I have added some behind the scenes images of what we have been designing lately. A series of display suites for multi residential projects that will begin development in Hornsby.

I designed the kitchens and bathrooms, developed all renders, designed the display suites, picked all the finishes and managed it all to life.

BTS : COUCHELO & INTERIORS ADDICT
Had a very busy and creative weekend, it started on Friday night with the second Sydney 7 vignettes event at BoConcept with Darren Palmer as well as a fun photo shoot with team Couchelo. Here are some behind the scenes pictures of what I have been up to as well as a sneak peek at the Couchelo first product shoot. The shoot included lots of goodies from different suppliers around Sydney, new and vintage pieces as well as some very cool retro ones. Stay tuned for the final shots, we were very happy with the results. Make sure to stay up to date with what is happening with Couchelo by clicking here.

BTS: COW PRINT EVERYWHERE
Here are some more behind the scenes look into what has been happening at JDZ HQ! Lots and lots, small and large... and am very much looking forward to the Christmas and New Year break.
My desk is very messy and will be getting a complete makeover during the holiday season. Lots planned for 2014 already so cannot wait to get started and see what the new year will bring!
PS: Do you like my Aqua Isola print? In the process of getting these pattern designs sorted for next year!

ROAD TRIPS ARE NOT JUST GOOD FOR CLEARING THE HEAD
Now it is time to talk more about the farmhouse project I have been working on for a long time! It is very exciting and is slowly slowly coming together. Thankfully my other half, Evan, better known as assistant on the day, came along for a very enjoyable but long drive down south into VERY rural NSW. It is a completely different way of life, one that is simpler, slower and rather peaceful. Living off the land and enjoying the beautiful landscape was exactly what was in order for a little recharge this weekend... so even though it was work, it really didn't feel like it. It is also very close to Albury, which is a lovely little town to discover, filled with some really lovely cafes and shops... including a very cute little homewares store... called Little Nest.
Here are some pictures of Ev's and I on our rural NSW work adventure this weekend, marking the beginning of a lot more behind the scenes snap shots previewing on the blog.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

BTS: FRENCH WITH A TWIST
It was one crazy world wind week last week and part of it included shooting one of the latest projects I completed this year, the Castle Hill Bathroom & Interiors renovation. It was a mixture of designing, styling advice and then putting it all together, assisting on site and much more. The best part though is that you get to see your design and advice taken on board by your clients to achieve something that they really cannot believe is there home. It is a long process but it is all very much worth it in the end, especially when your clients turn into friends. I am very proud of how they have taken on board everything that I have helped them with as well as the development of their new upstairs bathrooms. The brief was french with a twist, the couple love to travel, so we made sure to include lots of travelling pictures from their journeys. I cannot wait to share all the images online on my website as well as blog. For the meantime here are some little behind the scenes pictures from our shoot.

BTS: FANULI LAUNCH
Here is some behind the scenes look into the new Fanuli Showroom in Cremorne Sydney. Had the pleasure of attending the event with two lovely fellow Interior Designers and see the new Kristalia collection as well as artists painting the chairs live. It was very entertaining and they look great!
The showroom is three floors and filled with lots of pieces that range from a more traditional look to very contemporary and smart design. There are also a lot of pieces that would be perfect for a very small interior as the furniture is designed for more than just one function, like the lamp that doubles as a clothes horse. It was great to attend, network and get a look at some great new pieces.

GOODBYE GREEN WALL: BTS
Here are some more Behind The Scenes today at one of the projects we are working on at JDZ HQ. I showed you recently a little update on this exact loft giving you some insight into the brief and what is installed for making this first home buyers new place amazing. Originally it had this very overpowering dark emerald green which you can see in the action shots below. Regardless of emerald being a hot colour for 2013, it really was not working for this space, a little too over powering for a small sized living and master bed. Also, we want to make sure we have some great resale value added to this place, incase the owner wants to sell in the next five to ten years, so we are going to focus on bringing a lot more colour accents through the accessories of the home rather than the walls.
Paint colour choices are from Dulux and we have gone for a warmish but not pinkish off white that contrasts very well with a warm grey. That will bring a very nice contemporary edge to the loft as well as giving it some character. We will also be introducing a very funky and awesome wallpaper print that is going to bring the Master Bedroom to life. We cannot wait to share that with you... but you will have to wait ... just a little.
Here are some action shots from the work that is currently being done on the loft.
Dark emerald green ... be gone!
Looking forward to keeping you updated on the progress and transformation.
Happy Mid Week All,

BEHIND THE SCENES - COOLEST BRIEF
I am working on the biggest project I have ever tackled by myself, but it is extremely rewarding already and liberating because the brief is anything but conventional. It is fun, wacky and completely out there with complete instructions to make sure things actually do not really match. Complement of course but match? Why would we do that?! It is to be bright, vibrant and completely left of centre. Some of you may not know, sometimes well majority of the times, depending on circumstance and brief the design process takes lots of time and refining as you go by. Refinement is key and completely essential... you should have seen our first meeting... like 10 different books of fabrics and patterns AND ideas.
I am not revealing where and for what this project is for because it will reveal itself in due time but here are some behind the scenes action on the progress. Also, I have featured an amazing chair that was re upholstered for absolutely nothing! It is not for this project but it looks beyond amazing and would be so funky in the right context.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

| Not for this project but loved the result of the new upholstered seat, which inspired the fabric choice for the project I am working on. |
