BTS: FRENCH WITH A TWIST

It was one crazy world wind week last week and part of it included shooting one of the latest projects I completed this year, the Castle Hill Bathroom & Interiors renovation. It was a mixture of designing, styling advice and then putting it all together, assisting on site and much more. The best part though is that you get to see your design and advice taken on board by your clients to achieve something that they really cannot believe is there home. It is a long process but it is all very much worth it in the end, especially when your clients turn into friends. I am very proud of how they have taken on board everything that I have helped them with as well as the development of their new upstairs bathrooms. The brief was french with a twist, the couple love to travel, so we made sure to include lots of travelling pictures from their journeys.  I cannot wait to share all the images online on my website as well as blog. For the meantime here are some little behind the scenes pictures from our shoot.

MY FAVOURITES FROM SCULPTURE BY THE SEA

Sculpture by the Sea used to be my favourite excursion in High school Visual Arts. Every year we would head down to Bondi to do the walk all the way to Bronte to take in some of the amazing sculptures and installations created. Being a huge lover and appreciator of art in general, I of course love to make this trip down yearly just to have to look. This year was no exception with some really great pieces and lets face it... not so great pieces... I really ask myself sometimes, how the hell did that get chosen? Anyway, apart from being slapped in the face by nature over the weekend while doing the walk, braving the cold wind and rain, I was so pleased I got to see what I knew would be my favourite piece.

Here are some images from my favourites including the sphere ( which I think was just beautiful and oh so simple. ) Did you make the trip down this year? What did you think? Art is such a great way to express emotions, thoughts and concepts, especially if you can communicate it in a very interesting and abstract way.

ENJOYING THE GREAT OUTDOORS

One of the best parts about Summer is those late nights where the air is completely still, the temperature has dropped from being really hot and unbearable to a temp that is just perfect, where you do not need a jumper at any hour and it is so relaxing. That emotion and feeling is what lots of us crave and really desire to get something out of their outdoor spaces. Your outdoor space should really become an extension of the inside and have some serious zones that can assist it in being utilised from all aspects. It can however, like everything, become really expensive, but with some motivation, some inspiration and some great products you can really love to jazz up your space without burning a whole in the pocket. Today I wanted to inspire you with some inspirational imagery and then tomorrow introduce some great pieces that can really help to have you loving your great outdoor spaces.

BTS: FANULI LAUNCH

Here is some behind the scenes look into the new Fanuli Showroom in Cremorne Sydney. Had the pleasure of attending the event with two lovely fellow Interior Designers and see the new Kristalia collection as well as artists painting the chairs live. It was very entertaining and they look great!
The showroom is three floors and filled with lots of pieces that range from a more traditional look to very contemporary and smart design. There are also a lot of pieces that would be perfect for a very small interior as the furniture is designed for more than just one function, like the lamp that doubles as a clothes horse. It was great to attend, network and get a look at some great new pieces.

MY NEW FAVOURITE COLOUR COMBINATION

Blue and Orange are my absolute favourite colour combination for this summer! They are so complementing but contrasting at the same time and for some reason they just really really work. You will be seeing a lot more of this combo popping up around in accessories and furniture right throughout the summer 13' and 14' season. It is a great combo that can really bring a room to life and will go with almost any existing neutral base. It really reminds me of a European summer with lots of bright colours and evokes that feeling of lying on the beach and drinking a cocktail ... which is what this summer is all about.

Here is some seriously good inspiration from my Pinterest page! What do you think? Do you think you could love this combination as much as I do?

Happy Monday,

COULDA WOULDA SHOULDA

I really love this inspirational quote and it really shows you that it is all about being proactive and just going for it. Just had to share it!

FEATURE FRIDAY: THE BEACH

I love writing on the blog and sharing all that inspires me as a designer, to give you all the insight into how the industry works but what I love most is inspiring people and writing about my dear friends who are doing such great things. That is honestly one of the best parts, having such good friendships in the same industry who support and love what each other is achieving. The Beach Furniture & Accessories has just launched their long awaited webpage, FB page and instagram, showcasing a whole new bread of amazing hand made and designed pieces for the home. No two pieces are the same with their furniture ranging from plantation grown teak or recycled teak and Elm.

It is a combination of furniture, homewares and accessories all in trend and in vibe to a relaxing, elegant and vibrant interior. Their store is located in Bundall, QLD and a warehouse is Burleigh as well as an online store. It is a family run business since 2010 between New Zealand and Australia and is why I believe you can really see in care and love that goes into the business and the furniture. The products are ones consumers can relate to and are very accessible. Here is some behind the scenes images from their factories where all the products are hand made and looked over by the owners themselves. I cannot wait what my lovely friend Natalie Maclean and fellow Interior Designer has in stall as she assists her husband Simon in renovating the new store and designing some furniture.

I have mentioned them in my list of where you can buy some great pieces for your home this spring, over on my page on the Men Behaving Handy blog.

Find out more about The Beach Furniture and Accessories by clicking here and following them on Facebook. Ps: they have a great little competition happening at the moment so make sure to get involved.
